When I was 15 month child, I went for my first movie in theater. The name of that movie was "Maine Pyar Kiya". A Rajashree production family movie starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya. You will think how a 15 month child can go for movie. To make it clear, my mother took me for that. I was just crying there without getting anything. Don't worry after that I have seen a lot of movie which gave me confident to write this.
My main aim to write this blog is to show people how creative and great Indian Cinema was. You can see the word "was" because it is not at all creative and not great for sure today. Its just a business to earn money and fame.
What should be a movie content? Why movies are made? The simple answer is to aware people what is going on around them. Which are the current problems in our society, a way to come out from those problems(solution of the situation). One more scope is show your creativity and make people think. This creativity can be in comedy, horror, thriller and even in action.
When we see old Indian Cinema, 80 to 90% movies were satisfying the condition stated above. Each and every member who is connected with the movie was dying to show something new, something different. If we remember Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Manoj Kumar, Firoz Khan. they all were real show man. Please forgive if I forget some great personalities. Showman because they played multiple roles and not only acted.
If we talk about songs, the songs are made to tell long story in short to complete movie in 3 hour. they should have some meaningful connectivity with the current situation going in the movie apart from actor and actress. You will say same actor and actress are there in song also, so the song is connected with the movie. No, its meaningless argument. Words of the song should say something about situation.
In current Indian Cinema 80 to 90% movies are meaningless and have no creativity and totally made for earning more and more money. See if you make creative movie then also you will earn money. The remaining 10 to 20% movies do so. If the trend of making such rubbish movies for money continues, one day people will stop going for movie.
They think if we have famous actor or actress in our movie people will come and see our movie. They don't make good music, good story. History says that if you have punching story and excellent songs and creative direction, a new pair of actor and actress will also work for you. No need to waste money in famous actor and actress. If you think the role is challenging and it wont work without specific actor or actress, then you should approach them. You should not choose character for actor but the actor for character.
Directors should have competition to show more creative and excellent stuff than others in every next movie. Then only audience will get some entertaining stuff and will really praise it. The same thing happened in old Indian Cinema, and audience was served excellent movies. In a single year they(audience) got dozens of great movies to see.
Now a days bollywood has increased its circle to accommodate more and more people. One benefit is we are getting good directors, music directors, actors and actresses etc. On the other hand we are getting more and more untalented persons in the bollywood every year. If you are star son, no matter how many flop movies you give, you will get chance. I tell you if you work in 10 flop movies you will get one hit also. This shows that the person is not good actor or actress, and he or she should not be accepted by audience. The one hit movie he got is the creativity of that movie maker. The bad part of bollywood is talented people sometimes don't get proper chance to prove themselves just because of famous star's relationship with producers. All such things make bollywood weaker.
I have posted my thoughts here. From next blog onwards I will start writing on legends of bollywood. Its good to make people aware of legends and show why they are called legends instead of writing something bad for bad.
